Cinderella Party Ideas

If you happen to have a little girl, no doubt she is enchanted by all the Disney princesses out there. Of course one favorite princess for many little girls happens to be Cinderella. So, if you are planning a birthday party for her, you may want to have a Cinderella themed birthday party that will make her birthday part a dream come true. Need some ideas? Here are some great Cinderella party ideas that you can use for the perfect party.

Party Invitation Ideas
First of all, you'll need some great invitations for the Cinderella party. Consider sending out invitations in a scroll form as a "royal proclamation." It's easy to find scroll paper on the web as clipart that you can use to make up your own invitations. Of course if you aren't great at making invitations, many party stores actually carry invitations with the Cinderella party theme.

Ideas for Decorating
You'll need some Cinderella party ideas for decorating as well. You want to turn your home into a fairy tale land for this party. Check out a party store to see what party supplies are available in the Cinderella theme. Of course if you can't find any pre-made supplies, it's pretty do come up with your own. Go with the Cinderella colors, white and sky blue and use these colors to decorate for the party. If you have some cardboard, create a fake clock tower and have it striking midnight. Adding some pumpkins can really add to the theme décor as well. It's usually pretty easy to find pumpkins. Make them the perfect fairy coach by adding some glitter to them making them look like they just came from fairy land.  Of course, you don't want to forget the party favors.  These Cinderella candy wrappers are perfect for the occasion.

Ideas for Your Menu
Of course why not go ahead and use a Cinderella themed menu for the party as well. There are some great ways that you can make a party menu that is fit for a princess. Start out with pizza, but make it special by creating the pepperoni like it is the hands of a clock. Make sure you have the hands striking midnight. A cheese tray is a great idea as well, especially if you remember all the mouse friends that Cinderella had. Make a beautiful blue party punch by combining clear soda with blue Kool Aid for the perfect mix.   Here is a beautiful Cinderella cake that you can make as the birthday cake.

Fun Games for the Cinderella Party
Games are definitely a part of a successful party and there are some great ones that can make the entire party a blast. One great idea is to have makeovers for the little princesses that attend the party. Purchase little princess costumes for the girls and have a blast having them all make each other over for the "ball." Another idea is to find several fake Cinderella style shoes. You may be able to find them at a party store or you can make them yourself. Hide several shoes around the party area. Make it like a treasure hunt where the person that brings back the most shoes is the one who wins the prize.

Pokeman Party Ideas

For those of you with children keyed in to the Pokemon craze, there are plenty of simple birthday ideas to make your birthday party great fun. Pokemon lends itself to creativity, so just allow your children to guide the part and provide an outline. Use red, blue, and yellow decorations, and give them plenty of activities to keep them busy.

When the kids arrive, get them started right away with an activity. Offer them a Satin Christmas ball, glitter glue, and other crafty items. Have them decorate their "Pokeballs" so they have time to dry over the course of the party for taking home.

Once they get a little restless, shuttle them outside for "Pokemon Tag". Ash will be the one who has to tag all of the other Pokemon. The kids sit down as they get tagged, and the last one standing will be the next "Ash".

The next game is a version of charades. Put a sticker on each child's back, and have kids get in pairs or in front of a group. The child has to guess who is on his back by asking yes or no questions to the other children who can see who is on his back. Make sure that all the kids are Pokemon fans for this game so they can guess their character! The kids may amaze you with their Pokemon knowledge.

Make a Shroomish Apple Tree. The kids get to pretend to be Shroomish, who loves to eat apples. Tie apples from a string to a tree and kids get to take bites while not using their hands. All the fun of bobbing for apples, without the water mess.

Play Pikachu, Pikachu, Charmander - a variation on the game Duck-Duck-Goose. Keep this going as long as the children will play. If you have ever had a birthday party at home before, you know it stays fun a lot longer while they are in a structured game.

Once the games are finished, bring the kids back inside for cake and gifts. Your cake can be as simple as the homemade variety with the set on pieces to as creative as a freestanding Pikachu. Search online and you will find a wealth of ideas for incorporating your child's favorite Pokemon into the cake. If you aren't up for designing your own cake, take you ideas to a bakery and have them put it together for you.

As children eat cake and open gifts, get a Pokemon episode on standby on the television. After the gifts have been opened and children are hitting down time, have them watch TV until their parents arrive. As children leave, what better party favor to pass out than Pokemon trading cards? Include stickers and glow sticks for a party bag that will be enjoyed by all.

Space Theme Parties

Looking to provide a birthday party straight out of the future? Consider providing a space themed party for your child. This theme for a birthday party is not short on ideas, and all this fun can be done on a budget. Everything from the invitations to the games to the cake can incorporate the space theme, and there are several angles you can take to make it match your child’s fascination.

The theme that worked well for our five year old was “Space Invaders”. We printed invitations for the kids with “Martian Affair”, complete with a cute little alien on the front, and let the parents know we would be having an out of the world experience.

When the kids enter the house, we had decorated it as if we were in space. Asteroids were on the ceiling, designed from balled up newspaper painted grey/silver. Stars were suspended from the ceiling (Christmas ornaments), and the lights were low. Butcher paper was on the wall, awaiting the activity time so the kids could decorate.

Complete with paints, this was the waiting activity as the kids decorated for the party themselves. Planets, starts, the sun… the room came alive with the space theme, compliments of the kids. This really cuts back on decorating time, while giving the kids a great activity and creative outlet.

Once we had our space theme on the wall, we needed to make ourselves into aliens. Headbands from the dollar store, aluminum foil and some glue on fuzzy balls gave this group of five year olds all the thrill they needed.

Game time included playing pin the antennae on the alien, much like pin the tail on the donkey. The real hit, though, was fueling the space ship. The kids got messy as they filled cups with green jello as fuel for the next space flight.

Our cake was the shape of the space shuttle, which had come to invade space. It was simple with a three layer cake that progressively got smaller, with little windows. We served the cake on “spaceship plates” (paper plates that we pretended were space ships). Here is a picture of a spaceship cake that is easy to make and looks really cool. You could also make a rocket ship cake.

Our last activity was the piñata. We designed a spaceship piñata just for the event. Stuffed inside were not only candy, but miniature toys, light sticks (to resemble stars or lasers) and spaceships for the kids to take home.

This will be a party that is sure to be out of this world! Your child and friends will have a blast. Once they leave the “mother ship” you can be sure they will be talking about this party for weeks.

Baseball Theme Party

So your little slugger has decided he or she wants a baseball party this year. This is a great idea that you can play with and really do up in several different ways to create a one of a kind party that won’t be easily forgotten. No matter how much you want to spend or not spend there is a way to incorporate many ideas that will make you the hero.

So step one is creating a invitation that will set the mood for the party. You could always buy baseballs and use a ball point pen (Sharpie and other permanent markers will not work) and write the information on it. Or how about using empty popcorn bags and writing the details on. You could also cut out of card stock baseball or bat shapes and write the information on. If your all star has a favorite team you could incorporate the colors and theme of the team as well. Another fun idea is to make a baseball card using your child’s picture with all the party information on the back. You could also hand out these baseball candy wrappers with the invitation information imprinted on them. They also make great baseball party favors!

Decorations for the party are also another chance for you to be able to play around with and have fun. Baseball is America’s game so go for the red white and blue color scheme and add some bowls of baseballs. Or decorate with the colors of the team. Green would also make a good tablecloth with brown plates like a baseball field. A very easy and inexpensive option would be to have the party at a local park or ball field and let the scenery do the job of decorations.

The easiest part of a baseball party is the food. Go for all the classic ballpark foods. Grill out some hot dogs and set up a mini concession stand filled with the ketchup , mustard, onions, and relish. Have buckets filled with peanuts sitting around. Add in some yummy popcorn and soda and you’ll feel like your on the first base line.

The cake is the focal point of any party and a baseball party is no different. Make a round cake and put the baseball stitches on it. Or do a diamond cake and set it up like a ball field complete with little squares of candy as the bases or you can make a ball and a bat baseball cakes. You can buy little figurines of the players to set up. Or you can do a big logo of the favorite team. A great way to serve at the party is to buy the mini plastic baseball helmets and put the cake and ice-cream in them just like at the ballpark.

There is many entertainment ideas that are viable options for a baseball party. One easy one is have all the kids bring their gloves and have a game. All you will need is one bat and a couple of balls. You can throw anything down for bases. Just make sure you tell the parents so the kids will dress accordingly. You can buy “championship rings” for the winning team. Or you can always watch the game on television during the party. Make the kids feel like they are at the ball park with the concession stand and in between innings have mini games just like the majors do. You can custom design any kids game to a baseball theme. Make the piñata into a baseball and let them go at it with a bat. Or how about taking a big sheet and painting the baseball diamond onto it and let the kids play pin the tail as they try to find home plate. Another fun option for older kids who know the game is to get a bunch of baseball cards and play guess that player.

Goodies bags for a baseball party are easy. Go for baseball favorites such as baseball cards, baseballs, or any baseball shaped items (erasers, pins, whatever). If you do some early online shopping you can find plates, and other fun goodies to send home of your little slugger’s favorite team. Posters of ballplayers are another fun idea. And you can’t forget the packages of gum and sunflower seeds (the pouches are always a big hit).

No matter the age or your expertise of the game with a little creativity and work you can make the party the hit of the season. Baseball is about relaxing and having a good time just like a party should be. Have fun and I’m sure you’ll hit a grand slam.

Western Birthday Parties

Western birthday parties: if your child is a fan of cowboys and the wild west, it’ll be real easy to round up the gang for a party. This is one bash where you can go all out.

First of all, you must get the invitations ready. Print wanted posters, and have them read “WANTED: CHILD’S NAME, for BIRTHDAY CHILD’S PARTY” . Let the attendees know there will be a reward for those who show up. To give a little personalization, have the child’s picture on invitation poster.

Once the crew gets to the farm, hand out cowboy hats for all. To keep them busy until everyone arrives, offer a petting zoo. It’s easy and fairly inexpensive to borrow a few small farm animals - and if you live in the city it will be a real novelty. Have the kids hang out and feet the goat or chickens. You will have more fun watching them shriek with delight as the critters come looking for more.

No trip to the wild west would be complete without a gold rush. Have your little cowboys and cowgirls ride the stick horses across the wild west, and then they can dig for the treasure. This can be set up like the real gold rush, with treasures mixed in the sandbox, or you can make it more of an Easter egg hunt type game. Have kids stash the goodies in their cowboy hats to keep up with. Treasures from this hunt can include baggies of “Gold Dust” (glitter), coins, and maybe even a few dollar bills.

Once the kids have their treasures, let them go to “town”, designed from cardboard store fronts, and they can trade their treasure for rewards. Have a shop of stuffed animals, sticks horses, candy and stickers. Family members or older kids can be the shop-keepers, with the kids learning while playing.

For those fortunate to have enough room, have a pony ride for the kids. Many children would give anything to ride a pony, and this will make the party over the top. Usually, you don’t have to do anything once you have hired the service. You will be the top ranch with this part of the party (just make sure you have any waivers signed).

Of course on the ranch, it’s always a full blown meal. Picnic tables set up with genuine camping plates - aluminum pie plates are an inexpensive option, along with a full sized ranch hand meal such as bbq, baked beans and potato salad, will be a real hit. Homemade lemonade and sweet tea, and you’re all set. The parents won’t want to leave little ones with you for this, since they’ll want to get a few bites in. Give thesewestern party favors to each guest at their seats. These western candy wrappers are sure to be a hit.

For dessert, you must have the cake (find some great western cakes here) - but don’t forget the campfire. Make sure you have the making for smores, or grilled hot-dogs if you skip the big meal. It doesn’t have to be completely dark to start the campfire. If you listen carefully, you might be able to hear the coyotes in the distance…

Making a child’s western dreams come to life for a birthday will create memories to last a lifetime. Giddy-up partner! Have a Texas sized birthday.

Veggie Tales Party

….If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile… have I got a birthday plan for you!! Veggie Tales is the popular cartoon that incorporates music, rhymes and a fun storyline into one cute package that kids can’t resist. If your child sings along to the many tunes from Veggie Tales, then it may be the party for you.

For invitations and decorations for a Veggie Tale affair, there are is a good range of pre-printed cards, or you can opt to make it more personal. Personally, I opt for the pre-printed birthday items so I can focus more on the food and fun.

Your tables center piece should - of course - be a veggie tray. Have a couple of the veggies in the center decorated with eyes and a mouth, to help “host” the party. Bob and Larry are incredibly easy to mimic as a centerpiece. Make sure to offer dip so that the kids will want to eat the veggies… you might be surprised at how much they enjoy the offerings.

The famous Veggie Tale music should be going, with everyone singing along. Who can resist singing to “Oh Where Is My Hairbrush”? Use the songs to play Musical Chairs, and have a prize for each song that correlates to the song. For example, a hairbrush for the hairbrush song, pirate hats for “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything”, etc. For an extra special treat, get this personalized Veggie Tales music CD that can be personalized with the birthday child's name sung throughout the CD. There is also this Veggie Tales Silly Songs CD with more great songs to sing along to.

Don’t stick to just musical chairs. Have the kids (depending on age) guess how many peas are in the pot., or “Veggies in the Basket”. Another fun game is to have different vegetables and have the kids guess what they are with a blindfold. Make sure you have some popular ones and some not so well known. This might be a learning experience for you too!

Let kids feel the insides of vegetables, smell, taste, etc… Use pumpkins, cucumbers, asparagus - this can be a good sensory experience.

The cake can be simply piped icing onto a circle for Bob, or a Veggie Tales transfer for a cake. Get creative, or look online for cake ideas.

Goody bags for a Veggie Tale party can take on a life of their own. Instead of the regular offerings, give the kids some seed packs or a small cucumber and tomato plant, and garden gloves so they can make their own “Veggie Tale” at home. This will actually be less expensive than a bag of stickers and gum. As a bonus, parents will appreciate not having sugared up kids at the end of the party.

To keep your little veggies busy until parents come back, make sure to provide Veggie Tales coloring pages and a Veggie Movie to keep them entertained. They will go home humming the tunes with the hope of a new vegetable garden to grow.

Tea Party Ideas

Most little girls dream of dress up. If your little girl is one that dresses up her teddy bears and has fancy “teas” with her stuff animals, perhaps you can pull out all the stops and have a fancy tea party as a birthday party. Planning ahead will help keep the expenses down and make it a day that every child will be sure to remember. There are a host of ideas and tools to help make your child’s special day a success.

Invitations set the mood for the whole party. Get your child dressed in their finest “tea clothes” and make a formal invitation with her picture included. Make sure that you indicate the dress code and that coming fancy is completely appropriate. Perhaps add that “tea finery favors will be provided” so that girls can come to the party and get the extras as part of dress up. This will create a mood of anticipation starting with the invitations. If you don't want to use a picture on the actual invitation, these tea party invitation is perfect for the occasion.

Once children arrive, you can have a “makeup center” so that they can add the finery favors. Pass out inexpensive boas, gloves, bead necklaces, and lip-gloss. Let the girls interact while awaiting “tea time”. While they are waiting, you can throw a little tea history in with storytelling in the fun British accent.

For foods, think wedding reception foods if you don’t have the chance to go to high tea and get ideas for the menu. Cucumber sandwiches or other small triangular sandwiches, along with the teapot and cream and sugar. Scones and tiny cakes can be served, in leiu of a large cake. Make sure that the girls all get a chance to taste everything.

Serve the food on a fun and summery decorated table, with frilly cloths and teacup place settings. One neat idea you can use is to purchase teacups from a thrift store (mismatched are ok) and send them home as a party favor for the girls to play with later. Make sure that the girls have a chance to ask (in the British accent) for cream and sugar, please.

Activities can include “pin the tail on the butterfly”, “hot teapot” (that can get passed without being broken), and perhaps include an activity that will keep little ones busy. Have them design a tea hat for pictures, or perhaps a foam purse to carry party favors home in (maybe a tea bag so they can make tea at home).

Your tea party is sure to be a hit. Little girls never stop wanting to dress up and this opportunity will give them a chance to have a formal tea with friends while still playing. The party favors that lend themselves to a tea party are some of the most fun little girls can have. Upon their departure you can give them each tea party favors that are perfect for the occasion.

Monkey Party

If your child loves monkeys, then have a monkey party! There is no birthday party that can match a “Gone Bananas” party theme. This party theme is easily adaptable to a jungle theme as well. With so many tools available to make the party a smash, your party is sure to go ape.

With the advance of the internet, one creative way to send invitations is by using “Monkey E-Mail”, a free service from Career Builder. With this online invitation, you can email a monkey that delivers a personalized message that you can type or record for the monkey to read. The monkey can be dressed in an assortment of funny fashions, including birthday gear with a background that reflects the rest of the party theme.

For a party that has gone bananas, of course you will want yellow and green decorations to keep the monkey theme going. For the cake, have a round chocolate cake with cookies for the monkey’s “ears”. Or you can create a monkey cake yourself.   Here is another type of  monkey birthday cake you can make. If your child loves that specific adorable monkey "Curious George", here is an adorable Curious George cake that you can make. As an alternative, serve banana splits - yummy! - and bypass the cake entirely. Snacks can include animal crackers, gummy bears and fresh bananas (or fruit salad).

Activities are easy to think up for a Monkey Party. Monkey See, Monkey Do can be a simple variation on Simon Says, with the Monkey being Simon. Monkey in the Middle can be played the same as Duck Duck Goose (and the child in the middle is the monkey), and Monkey Business can be Charades. Have each child act out a monkey doing something silly. Simply think of fun names to go with traditional activities, and end by pinning the tail on the - you guessed it. The monkey.

A fun activity to consider are sock monkeys. To do this, turn a sock right side out and fill with dried beans. Tie it off. The heel of the sock is the monkey’s nose, and the toes can be tied off into ears. Have a puppet monkey show, perhaps with the storyline based on a “Curious George” story.

The most important part of the party for your little monkeys is fun! Left to their own devises, there is no telling what type of monkey-ish trouble they will get into, so make sure that you have a host of activities planned for them to keep them hopping from branch to branch happily.

Send them home with a Curious George storybook as a party favor as opposed to the traditional stickers and tattoos. They will be sure to keep playing monkey games long after the party has ended with a story and a puppet activity as a reminder.
