High School Musical Party Ideas
Whether your kids started bopping along to High School Musical because you love it, or whether they found it on their own, there is no denying that this made for television movie has beaten all the odds and become a real fixture in our popular imagination. What might surprise parents is how much their kids will get into it, whether they love the acting or the music, and you'll start wondering if there is a great way to get involve everything in a party. With a little bit of thought, you'll find that there are lots of great ways to put High School Musical into a birthday party, so here are some ideas to get you started!
Plan a talent show
One of the things that this movie portrayed and that your own kids can probably back up is that most kids are hams. While no child should be shoved into the lime light who doesn't want to go, set up a little stage area and see if you can get a good strong flashlight to work as the spotlight. Let your kids give a great performance and let them figure out who's the top when it comes to style and good performance.
Karaoke
Depending on what your resources are, you might find that a karaoke machine is a great way to break the ice. Most kids love hearing their voices broadcast all over the building, and you'll find that there are a lot of great songs that they'll love to dance to. You can use a digital camera to capture these memories, both for yourself and for your kids, and you'll have plenty of material to show everyone what what happened on your kid's birthday.
Mural
Pull out a long bolt of butcher paper and have your kids draw out rock star and theater representations of themselves. Do they see themselves as Shakespearean actors, or do they prefer slapstick comedy? Have them draw pictures of themselves on this large piece of paper and you'll soon see a side of them that you never expected to see. This is a great way to break the ice as well as get everyone talking.
Music
You can't beat High School Musical for great songs so make this movie your soundtrack. Borrow a sound system if you don't have one already and keep the music going. This is a great way to provide some background noise for your kid's party.
