Baseball Theme Party

So your little slugger has decided he or she wants a baseball party this year. This is a great idea that you can play with and really do up in several different ways to create a one of a kind party that won’t be easily forgotten. No matter how much you want to spend or not spend there is a way to incorporate many ideas that will make you the hero.

So step one is creating a invitation that will set the mood for the party. You could always buy baseballs and use a ball point pen (Sharpie and other permanent markers will not work) and write the information on it. Or how about using empty popcorn bags and writing the details on. You could also cut out of card stock baseball or bat shapes and write the information on. If your all star has a favorite team you could incorporate the colors and theme of the team as well. Another fun idea is to make a baseball card using your child’s picture with all the party information on the back. You could also hand out these baseball candy wrappers with the invitation information imprinted on them. They also make great baseball party favors!

Decorations for the party are also another chance for you to be able to play around with and have fun. Baseball is America’s game so go for the red white and blue color scheme and add some bowls of baseballs. Or decorate with the colors of the team. Green would also make a good tablecloth with brown plates like a baseball field. A very easy and inexpensive option would be to have the party at a local park or ball field and let the scenery do the job of decorations.

The easiest part of a baseball party is the food. Go for all the classic ballpark foods. Grill out some hot dogs and set up a mini concession stand filled with the ketchup , mustard, onions, and relish. Have buckets filled with peanuts sitting around. Add in some yummy popcorn and soda and you’ll feel like your on the first base line.

The cake is the focal point of any party and a baseball party is no different. Make a round cake and put the baseball stitches on it. Or do a diamond cake and set it up like a ball field complete with little squares of candy as the bases or you can make a ball and a bat baseball cakes. You can buy little figurines of the players to set up. Or you can do a big logo of the favorite team. A great way to serve at the party is to buy the mini plastic baseball helmets and put the cake and ice-cream in them just like at the ballpark.

There is many entertainment ideas that are viable options for a baseball party. One easy one is have all the kids bring their gloves and have a game. All you will need is one bat and a couple of balls. You can throw anything down for bases. Just make sure you tell the parents so the kids will dress accordingly. You can buy “championship rings” for the winning team. Or you can always watch the game on television during the party. Make the kids feel like they are at the ball park with the concession stand and in between innings have mini games just like the majors do. You can custom design any kids game to a baseball theme. Make the piñata into a baseball and let them go at it with a bat. Or how about taking a big sheet and painting the baseball diamond onto it and let the kids play pin the tail as they try to find home plate. Another fun option for older kids who know the game is to get a bunch of baseball cards and play guess that player.

Goodies bags for a baseball party are easy. Go for baseball favorites such as baseball cards, baseballs, or any baseball shaped items (erasers, pins, whatever). If you do some early online shopping you can find plates, and other fun goodies to send home of your little slugger’s favorite team. Posters of ballplayers are another fun idea. And you can’t forget the packages of gum and sunflower seeds (the pouches are always a big hit).

No matter the age or your expertise of the game with a little creativity and work you can make the party the hit of the season. Baseball is about relaxing and having a good time just like a party should be. Have fun and I’m sure you’ll hit a grand slam.
