Pokeman Party Ideas
When the kids arrive, get them started right away with an activity. Offer them a Satin Christmas ball, glitter glue, and other crafty items. Have them decorate their "Pokeballs" so they have time to dry over the course of the party for taking home.
Once they get a little restless, shuttle them outside for "Pokemon Tag". Ash will be the one who has to tag all of the other Pokemon. The kids sit down as they get tagged, and the last one standing will be the next "Ash".
The next game is a version of charades. Put a sticker on each child's back, and have kids get in pairs or in front of a group. The child has to guess who is on his back by asking yes or no questions to the other children who can see who is on his back. Make sure that all the kids are Pokemon fans for this game so they can guess their character! The kids may amaze you with their Pokemon knowledge.
Make a Shroomish Apple Tree. The kids get to pretend to be Shroomish, who loves to eat apples. Tie apples from a string to a tree and kids get to take bites while not using their hands. All the fun of bobbing for apples, without the water mess.
Play Pikachu, Pikachu, Charmander - a variation on the game Duck-Duck-Goose. Keep this going as long as the children will play. If you have ever had a birthday party at home before, you know it stays fun a lot longer while they are in a structured game.
Once the games are finished, bring the kids back inside for cake and gifts. Your cake can be as simple as the homemade variety with the set on pieces to as creative as a freestanding Pikachu. Search online and you will find a wealth of ideas for incorporating your child's favorite Pokemon into the cake. If you aren't up for designing your own cake, take you ideas to a bakery and have them put it together for you.
As children eat cake and open gifts, get a Pokemon episode on standby on the television. After the gifts have been opened and children are hitting down time, have them watch TV until their parents arrive. As children leave, what better party favor to pass out than Pokemon trading cards? Include stickers and glow sticks for a party bag that will be enjoyed by all.
