Basketball Theme Party
When you child’s birthday party approaches, do you ever think of what type of theme to employ for the party. Yes, sometimes it can be a great deal of fun to devise a unique party theme that will make the event as memorable as possible. Standard and generic parties can be fun but there is much more potential found in a party revolving around a theme the young one may be interested in. For those kids that are fans of basketball, a themed party that celebrates the sport is a huge plus.
Whether your child is a fan of playing the game or simply enjoys watching, a basketball themed party will definitely prove to be memorable. And, best of all, planning such a themed party is not complex and can often be done in a cost effective manner. In terms of the party favors and decorations, there are numerous basketball related decorations that can be added to the mix. And, no, it is not difficult to find these themed decorations. They are also not very expensive so cost should not be an impediment to purchasing the items. Purchasing a number of posters of famous players can certainly round out the more traditional decorative items as well.
Of course, a basketball cake can be produced in a rather inexpensive manner. Let the truth be told, a basketball cake can be a traditional birthday cake. It becomes a “basketball cake” can be the product of the icing that is placed on the cake. More than likely, it will be orange flavored and colored icing ala a real basketball.
The party favors could be any one of the basketball candy wrappers found here. You can add the basketball fans picture if you want too! These are sure to make a great impression on your guests and the basketball fan you are throwing the party for is sure to be delighted as well.
Since basketball is an active hobby, a basketball themed party should include a few activities. Some will point to the obvious activity: a pick up basketball game. This is fine, but not all the guests may be athletically inclined. That is why it is best to play a few hoop games that are not overly competitive in nature. After all, you do want all the guests to have fun and too much competition can undermine such an event.
Actually, playing basketball themed videogames would not be a bad idea either. With videogames, it is ok to be a little more competitive since the player is detached from the actual game play. So, wins and losses do not really make anyone feel that bad. Once again, it is just a videogame so the dynamic will be different.
And, certainly, if the child’s birthday falls during basketball season, it would be a nice touch to hold the party while a basketball game is airing on television. Some may assume that simply watching the game is too passive of an activity. This is somewhat true. That is why is may be a good idea to integrate a game idea with the actual game. Perhaps you could have the guests take wild guesses as to what the final score of the game may be. Those that guess the closest could be awarded a prize. Such concepts will make watching the game more fun and it will engage the guests.
Yes, throwing a basketball themed party can be a lot of fun. There can also be more to it than people think. So, if your child loves the game, why not plan a birthday party that also celebrates the game?
