Movie Theme Party Ideas for Your Children
Decorations
You can decorate with movie posters of movie you are basing your theme around or you can use pictures or cutouts of film reels and hang them all over the walls. You can also get balloons and streamers that match the colors in the movie posters or you can go with all black and white if you are decorating with movie reels and such. Once you get started with the decorations, you are bound to find that you are coming up with more and more ideas, all on your own.
Snacks
For snacks, you want to have popcorn. You can have fun and provide a wide variety of flavored popcorn. Also, make sure that you have either plastic or cardboard popcorn containers, just like what you would receive at the movie theater. You can also pick up some boxed candy, just like what would be at the movies, at your local dollar store. This will add a nice touch to the whole thing. You can even give these movie themed candy bars or one of the other birthday candy bars as the party favors. There are also ways to make cupcakes that resemble little popcorn containers by using tiny marshmallows on the top of the cupcakes. There are many recipes out there for special cake designs.
Games
For older children, you could have a trivia game based around the movie of your choice. If this party is for younger children, you can skip the trivia game, unless the questions are very basic, and simply watch the movie for some entertainment. You could even have a little quiz after the movie and whoever can answer the most questions wins.
You will want to make sure that you are bringing in as much as the theme as possible. If you really want to go all out, you could locate a cardboard cutout of the movie you are basing your theme on. This would be something that would resemble the cardboard cutouts you would find in the actual movie theater.
This is a theme that you are probably going to want to make sure that you are planning for in advance. The more you plan, the easier things will come together on the day of the actual party.
