On To a Bright Future

In just a few months, millions of young men and women will be graduating from high school, trade school or college.  That means, there are thousands upon thousands of parties that will be planned across the country.  Planning a graduation party can be fun if you don’t get in over your head, and you know what you want from the onset of planning.  Here are some tips for a stellar graduation party.

Plan early and well for your party.  The first part of this tip is very basic, but most important.  In order to plan well without stress, you need to know the type of party that you want.  Believe it or not, there are several options!  Do you want a small party, more of an open house, with just a few people?  Will you  hold your party on the weekend or on a weekday?  Will you hold your party at home or in another venue like a park or recreation hall?  Will your party be held during the day or in the evening?

See, once you have answered these types of questions, you know the path to follow to plan for your graduation party.  The next step is to figure out how you want to do the invitations.  There are several options here as well.  Many people today are steering towards evites, which are electronic invitations.  Because so many people are glued to their email, this is a great option for invitations.

If you want your graduation party invitations to be totally unique, you could consider personalized candy bars with a wrapper that states all the specifics.  Personalized candy wrappers can contain pretty much any message you want, and can feature a graduation theme that will grab the attention of the guest.  You may think that this sounds like an expensive option; but really, personalized candy bars can be given out for much the same price as paper graduation invitations.

Here the downside of using personalized candy bars as invitations instead of just as party favors.  There is no organized way to rsvp to the party!  That doesn’t mean you have to drop the idea, however.  To ensure that everything goes off without a hitch, combine the invitations of personalized candy wrappers – just for the sheer genius of it – with an evite.  This way people have a way to rsvp and you can get on with planning a great party.

You don’t have to go into debt to have a great graduation party that will be remembered past summer.  If you have friends or family that is also graduating, go in on a party together!  When two or three families go throw one larger party, you can have more simply because more people are pitching in for the cost of fun stuff like music and food.  This is a great idea because a lot of the time you have a friend or two that all run in the same circles and therefore the guest list works for the whole group.

Happy Planning!
