Fun Baby Shower Ideas

Planning a baby shower can be a fun and exciting task.  Your friend or family member is preparing for a new stage in her life, and you want to help her celebrate in a big way.  Don’t let nerves or lack of know-how stop you from hosting the very best baby shower you can.  With a few ideas, you can throw a shindig that will be the talk of your friends’ circles for months to come.

One big way to throw a baby shower that will stand head and shoulders above the rest is to get into a theme that will leave everyone in wide-eyed wonder.  Themes can range wildly based on your friend’s preferences, or on the sex of her unborn child.  For the coolest boy baby shower, think of sports, or frogs or bugs and go with that theme.  This is also a great idea when the baby shower also includes Dad and his guy friends.

For a sports theme, you could start with sending invitations on candy bar wrappers with a sports theme.  This is a novel approach to invitations, and one you’re your invitees will appreciate since just about everyone loves chocolate!  On the sports themed personalized candy wrappers , you can print something clever about the MPVs (mom and dad) holding a sports themed baby shower and also include the date, time and location.

If mom and dad are fans of all things western, you could easily throw one hay stack of a baby shower following this theme.  Invitations could be in the shape of a cowboy hat in either blue or pink…or standard brown or black if you don’t know the sex of the baby.  Invitations would be easy to make yourself.  Just remember to include wording that sounds western, too.  Something like, “Mosey on over to (party location) to hoot and holler about the new baby on the way”.  Ok, not my best work, but it would do.

In a western themed shower, both moms and dads can be included into fun games like Cowboy Toss, where a cowboy hat is tossed onto a pole that you set up.  Western themed parties can also feature a cowboy boot cake and some chocolate in custom candy bar wrappers  as party favors.  Personalized candy wrappers can hold a message from the parents-to-be to their guests that will express their thanks for attending.

While it can be a nice thing to include the guys into the festivities, sometimes you just want a good old fashioned baby shower for all the women to enjoy one another’s company and focus on girly things.  That’s ok too!  Send the men off to a sporting event or to the golf course and hunker down with the ladies for some girl time.  Even here you can incorporate a beautiful theme that will wow the mom-to-be as well as all of the guests.

Other themes you can consider for a baby shower are a Spa shower, a Hawaiian shower, or a Butterfly shower.  Each has its own unique offerings, and each could very easily be remembered for a long time to come through yummy chocolate with personalized candy wrappers that contain a message from the mom-to-be to her closest friends.
