A Unique Gift Idea for Teachers

If you are a teacher, you know how difficult it can be to give gifts to all of your students.  Throughout the school year, there are a few occasions which could warrant a special gift from teacher to student.  But teachers aren’t made of money, so what can you do that is super special that doesn’t break your bank?  Here are some ideas to get you off in the right direction.

As a teacher, you are busy coming up with lesson plans, grading papers and decorating and organizing your classroom; and this is just the beginning for many teachers!  Also planning even the simplest of gifts can be too much to bear a lot of the time.  While students love getting little packets of goodies from their teacher whom they love love love, preparing packages for each child can take hours of your time.

Here is an idea that can really make each of your students smile, and save you a ton of time.  How about giving out personalized candy bars to your students?  This can be a huge hit even for older kids!  Personalized candy bars don’t have to have their name on them, just a small message from you.  Your candy bar wrappers can say “Have a Great Summer” or “Good Luck in High School” or even just a holiday greeting.  The point is that your students will remember such a gift for a long time.

Most teachers have a fair amount of students that they see day in and day out.  Candy bar wrappers can be custom made to feature a holiday theme, or can be made for boys or girls specifically.  So you can do something with personalized candy bars where every one of your students gets the same thing, or you can have some candy bar wrappers designed just for boys (featuring dinosaurs or a sports theme) and some just for girls (with butterflies or flowers).

I know, I know, you are probably thinking that some girls don’t like butterflies and some boys don’t like sports.  That’s the beauty of personalized candy bars; you can find something that fits all of your kids without having to worry about someone not liking what they got. The bottom line is that most of them will love chocolate, and all of them will love a personal message from their teacher!

Another way to incorporate this special treat into your classroom is to put it in your treasure box or reward box, whatever you may call it.  When one of your students gets a reward for good behavior or stellar grades, they can choose a personalized candy bar that says “Great Job!” on the wrapper.

It may not be all about your students remembering you as they travel through a multitude of classrooms throughout their lives.  It’s really about making them feel special.  Unique gifts catch kids’ attention and make them feel special.   There are several ways you can do this.  The idea suggested here is one that your students will appreciate receiving, and that won’t cost you an arm and a leg to give.  Now that’s a win-win situation!
