Western Theme Party

Since kids birthday parties are my favorite, I think it is fitting that I begin with a kids birthday party to start off our new party blog with.  My favorite kids birthday party that I have put together so far was for my daughter's 6th birthday. We had a western party theme; where we gave all of the kids cowboy hats, bandanas and sherriff's badges as they arrived. We also had pony rides in our front yard. We hung signs around the house such as "grub" for the food and "outhouse" on the bathroom door. I just made the signs on the computer using a western type font.

The invitations were WANTED posters with my daughter's picture on it. I made them out of parchment paper and again used a western type font. I then burned the edges of the paper. They looked really cute.

We used these western party favors. The cake was this horse birthday cake.

For games, we had a tin can shoot out with squirt guns. This was really easy to do and a lot of fun.  We stacked empty tin cans where two children would see who could shoot down the tin cans the fastest with the squirt guns. We also played pin the tale on the horse. You could also play pin the badge on the sherriff if you wanted. Some children played the games while others were riding the ponies. It worked out really well so that the children didn't have to just stand in line waiting for their turn to ride the ponies.

I took a picture of each child while they were on the pony and sent it to them in their thank you card. Overall, the party was a big hit! The kids had a blast and so did I.
