Graduation parties are super fun and all about celebrating a significant part of a young person’s life. If you plan a little in advance before, the day of your party will be a breeze. Most of the items needed for a fun grad party can be purchased at a party store and/or a grocery store, or you can take a little extra time to make things by hand for a more intimate and unique feel. If you don’t let yourself get too overworked, you can create a super fun and extravagant party when you plan ahead of time.

You can use graduation candy wrappers as the party favors. They are perfect because you can add a picture of the graduate to the wrapper to make them extra special. They are the perfect way to honor the graduate for their accomplishments. There are also many other types of graduation party favors that work perfectly for the occasion as well.

If you are the do it yourself type, you can make the graduation cake yourself. One idea that I really like for high school graduations is to make one sheet cake with the mascot of the school that the graduate is graduating from and to make another sheet cake with the mascot of the school that the graduate will be attending for college. This works especially well when you have a lot of people attending and you will need a lot of cake! In any event here are plenty graduation cake ideas that you can make.

Using pictures of the graduate in aspects of your party allows the person to feel special and honored. You can even have a cake with their image screen printed on top! Try printing out pictures of your graduate and hanging them above your snack table or arranging them on a poster board. You could also make a poster for people to sign and send fun messages to your grad!

For snacks, be sure to offer lots of options. Most graduation parties tend to be open-house style, so providing food that isn’t very perishable and that caters to lots of different palates will serve you well. Things like fruits and veggies, crackers with meats and cheeses, or even build your own sandwiches are inexpensive and can be decorated in a fancy matter or a casual one. You don’t want to spend the party refilling the food tray or rushing around in the kitchen. Always be sure to get a head count as well even if it’s just a rough guess. This will eliminate last minute trips to the store.

If you decide to hit up the party store, be sure to grab balloons and disposable dishes. This means less work for you. You can find all kinds of décor at the party store like graduation hats, picture frames, custom grad candy, banners, streamers, and signs.

As long as you remember your grad and enjoy the company of those close to you, you’re bound to have a memorable time.
