Sweet Sixteen Party Ideas

Sweet sixteen holds such tender meanings for parents, as they teary eyed watch their children enter the world of child into adult. How to throw the perfect party where your child will be safe while still having fun can be a daunting task for parents. It’s important for parents to still be involved while letting their kids be teenagers.

Spa Birthday Parties are becoming increasingly popular. This can be handled in so many different ways: have girls over for a “Slumber / Spa” party, where as part of night, each girl is treated to a manicure, pedicure, facial, and hair design. This can be done in pajamas with junk food and movies.

To make the birthday girl the center of attention, make sure to have photos strategically placed highlighting her growing up. Make a photo of each girl, and have them printed for a memory, and take a group picture of the girls after the “makeover” and put it in a wedding type picture matte where each girl can sign a birthday message as a keepsake of her younger years. Give each party goer a keepsake of the special event. These sweet sixteen candy wrappers are perfect for the occasion and you can even place a picture of the guest of honor on the wrappers if you wish. There are matching sweet sixteen invitations as well.

More elaborate spa parties can involve limo pick up and an actual day at the spa. Many spas now offer birthday packages, where girls can go for a massage and facial, or whichever other birthday package you select.

Not all birthdays have to be girly. If you want to make your son’s 16th birthday memorable, a neat idea is to use the “survivor” theme. Send invitations on two separate colored bandanas, indicating teams. Make sure that directions are available for participants, such as to bring an extra change of clothing, no junk food, etc. Blindfold teams and drive to destination, where directions will be available for them.

This doesn’t have to be an overnight party, but setting up a scavenger hunt for a tent and supplies makes it a lot more fun. The participants must survive until the morning for the ride home. This is only limited by your imagination. Set up challenges and make sure that there is a “Probst Host”. Use tiki torches, name tribes, and make sure someone has the video camera with new batteries.

One of the most interesting parties you can host is a murder mystery dinner. Why not do this for the best friends during the 16th birthday party. Teens will have a blast unraveling the mystery. Make “blood” (fruit punch), “bones” (crackers cut in the shapes of bones), and “eyeballs” (peeled grapes). The more characters you can include, the more fun. Have the detective try to find out who the murderer is: there are specific scripts written where you can find assistance in the perfect murder mystery. This party is also not gender specific, and will include everyone. You can find lots of great birthday cake pictures here that you can make for your party.

This is one of the last chances you will have to be involved in your child’s life as a young person. Soon they will be all grown up, and you will be once again helping plan parties for little ones as grandchildren come along. Make the most of this day, and have a blast with your child.
